Gunjan Aswal
Dr. Gunjan Singh Aswal is a dedicated prosthodontist and academic with extensive experience in dental education and research. Currently serving as a Lecturer at the School of Dentistry, The University of the West Indies (UWI), St. Augustine, Dr. Aswal specializes in prosthodontics and Implantology.
With a Master of Dental Surgery from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Dr. Aswal has held faculty positions in various international institutions, including Fiji National University, Mekelle University, and Jimma University. Throughout his career, he has been deeply involved in clinical training, research supervision, and curriculum development.
Dr. Aswal’s research interests span dental materials, implantology, digital dentistry, and biopolymers in prosthodontics. His work has been widely published in leading journals, covering topics such as CAD/CAM materials, mucormycosis management, and oral health policies. He has also been awarded research grants and accolades, including the Young Essayist Award from the South African Dental Association.
Beyond academia, Dr. Aswal contributes to patient care through clinical supervision at the Adult Dental Polyclinic, providing prosthetic and maxillofacial rehabilitation services. He also supports the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMFS) department of the Ministry of Health in Trinidad and Tobago, assisting with prosthetics for oncology and trauma patients.
Dr. Aswal is an active member of professional organizations such as the Indian Prosthodontic Society and the Indian Society of Oral Implantologists and serves as a reviewer for journals like Frontiers in Education and The Open Dentistry Journal. With particular interest in bioprinting and graphene-based technologies, Dr. Aswal continues to explore innovations in digital and regenerative dentistry, contributing to advancements in prosthetic and geriatric dental care.
