Maxillofacial Prosthodontist

I received my Msc. in Dentistry at the University of Groningen, The Netherlands. In 2012 I earned a Ph.D in Medical Sciences from the University of Groningen under supervision of prof. dr. Marie-Charlotte Huysmans, prof dr. Arjan Vissink and prof. dr. Marco Cune. Part of this work was done at King’s College London under supervision of prof. dr. Gordon Proctor. I subsequently completed a three-year hospital-based clinical residency in Prosthodontics at the University Medical Center Groningen (supervision: prof. dr. Marco Cune) resulting in a membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Furthermore, I earned my Board Certification in Maxillofacial Prosthodontics by the Dutch Society of Gnathology and Prosthodontics in 2016. As a postdoctoral fellow at the Amsterdam University Medical Center, I expanded my research to the field of Sjögren’s syndrome. At the same time, I founded the Drymouth Outpatient Clinic at the Center for Special Care Dentistry. At this center I hold a position as consultant in maxillofacial prosthodontics. Until June 2023 I was president of the Salivary Research Group of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR). Until December 2022 I was board member of the Dutch Society for Gnathology and Prosthodontics (NVGPT).
